Honeywell Dolphin 6100 Device Reset Instructions

Performing a Warm Boot

A soft reset re-boots the terminal without losing RAM data and launches Autoinstall, which re-initializes
the terminal. You would perform a soft reset 1) when the terminal fails to respond, 2) after installing software
applications that require a reboot, or 3) after making changes to certain system settings.

Step 1

Press the Reset button. The screen turns white and the decode and scan LED flashes blue for approximately three seconds. When the reset is complete, the Desktop appears.

Performing a Cold Boot

A hard reset (cold boot) erases all of the data and applications stored in RAM memory and launches Autoinstall, which re-initializes the terminal.

Step 1

Press and hold the Reset button and then press and release the Power button. The screen turns white and the decode and scan LED flashes red for approximately three seconds.

Step 2

The terminal re-initializes, which re-installs all programs stored in the \Honeywell\Autoinstall folder.

Press the Reset button on the back of the CN3.

Note: Set the time and date after each hard reset to ensure that the system clock is accurate. Double-click the date on the command bar to open the Clock setting and set the time and date.

Performing a Clean Boot

When you clean boot the CN3, it loads only those files and programs that are absolutely required by the operating system. Use the clean boot to troubleshoot the CN3 by getting it up and running so that you can perform diagnostic tests to determine which elements of the normal boot process are causing problems.

Step 1

Press the Power button to suspend the CN3.

Step 2

Remove the battery pack from the CN3.

Step 3

With a stylus, press the Reset button on the battery cavity.

Step 4

Press and hold the Power button as you insert the battery back into the CN3.

Step 5

Continue to hold the Power button until a Warning message appears on the display.

Step 6

Release the Power button, read the message, and press either button on the right side to continue.

Step 7

Wait for the CN3 to load files from the miniSD card.
